LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS – VANDA

Life Support Systems – Vanda is an amateur lab designed to train a statistical model with a signal from a Vanda orchid, and store the resulting datastructure inside a Microsoft Xbox. Personality data reduction is achieved through the combination of electrophysiology and the Turing Test. Moreover, standard visualization and synthesis techniques are applied to lend this data an audiovisual appearance. The installation keeps the orchid alive indefinitely, while the Xbox acts as vessel for the same orchid, this time digitally simulated.
