
Paul Granjon (b.1965, Lyon, France)
Artist. Graduated with a BFA in 1990 from Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Marseille (France). His work focuses on contemporary arts, including performance, music, visual arts, practicing DIY-approaches in new technologies. In 1998, Granjon founded Z Productions – a laboratory specializing in new media critical research. He has participated in several solo exhibitions, among them: ZProductions presente (Marseille, 1994), Z Lab (Cardiff-Llandudno-Swansea, 2001), Machines by Paul Granjon (Grenoble, 2002), Automated Forest (Luxembourg, 2003), Quelques creatures (Chicoutimi, 2004, Ljubljana, 2005, Marseille, 2005), Positive activities (Quebec, 2006). ZLab traveled to different contemporary art festivals, including AVE Festival (Arnheim, 1995), EMAF (Osnabruck, 1996-98), MUU Festival (Helsinki, 1998), Cardiff Art in Time Festival (Cardiff, 1999), Avesta (Avesta, 2000), BRRR Festival (Portu, 2001), Dorkbot (London, 2001), International Arts Festival (Melbourne, 2003), Open Borders (Lille, 2004), Big Blip 05 (Briton, 2005), In Between Time Festival (Bristol, 2006), Franklin Furnace (1999), the 51st Venice Biennale (Welsh Pavilion, 2005) and the Musee d’Art Moderne (Luxembourg, 2006). His works are part of private and public collections, including Lovebytes (Sheffield, UK), the Musee d’Art Moderne (Luxembourg) and the Arts Council of England. Granjon has lectured in various institutions such as: the Baltic Arts Centre (Gateshead), Quebec University (Chicoutimi), the Whitechapel Gallery (London). He won the prestigious grant from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts which gave him the opportunity to fully focus on his personal creative research. Granjon currently lives and works in Cardiff (Wales, UK).
