
Isa Gordon (b.1969, New York, USA)
Artist, researcher. Graduated with a BA in 1995 from the University of Indiana (Bloomington) and MFA in 2001 from the University of Arizona (Tempe). She uses contemporary media in her work, focusing on cyber-performance. Gordon initiated Psymbiote, where she explored the theme of identity and the high-tech practices of building a hybrid body. Her works have been exhibited at Ex Machina (Indiana University, Bloomington, 1993), Digital Media Arts (Indiana University, Bloomington, 1996), Breathing Baggage (IceHouse Art Museum, Phoenix, 1997), Technopagan Hootenanny (Arizona State University, Tempe, 1998), Out West (The Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Fe, 1999), Exotic Art Show (The Alwun House, Phoenix, 2000), Mnemonic Devices (Arizona State University, Tempe, 2000), Burning Man (Black Rock, Nevada, 2001, 2003), Version03 (Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago), One Line Collective Project (Flat Iron Studio 205, Chicago, 2004), Secrets of Elegance (Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix, 2005), Brewery Artwalk (Umlaut Haus, Los Angeles, 2007) and Resident Group Show (I5 Gallery, Los Angeles, 2007). Gordon has organized and participated in CyberFashion at SIGGRAPH (San Antonio, 2002; San Diego, 2003; Los Angeles, 2004-2005 and Boston, 2006). She has delivered lectures and given graduate classes at numerous universities and art institutions, including St. Martin's College of Design (London), York University (Toronto), Art&Sci Collaborations Inc (CUNY, New York), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), the IT University (Goteborg) and the University of California (Los Angeles). Since 2003, she has been collaborating with SintheteX Fashions, producing unique clothes and accessories. Gordon lives and works in Los Angeles, CA (USA).
